Only Imagine is named after the song by MercyMe. She is affectionately known as “Hershey” in the herd, as she was born in our candy bar theme year for barn names and Hershey stuck. 🙂
Hershey is out of an excellent cross of our lines with the AI sire we used in 2016 (Kaitai). Hershey is wide bodied and holds her weight and lactation very well without a large amount of grain. Her legs have correct balance and are straight both from the front and the side view. Her udder is socked on tight, but I’d like to see larger teats – I’m hoping that they will continue to increase in size with her second freshening. We dam raise, so the teats don’t get much chance to stretch out until we start separating kids at night – we didn’t do that much last year and I’ll need to do that sooner in her lactation this year to facilitate that. She is sweet natured and patient, which has made her a favorite with our family. She is also an excellent momma.
In 2022, Hershey scored Very Good in Front Legs, Rear Legs, Rump, Dairy Strength, and Body (capacity). Her final score was 82 +VV+. LA: September 20, 2022.

AGS Classification Scores
We also participate in the American Goat Society’s Classification program. In classification, an animal is given a final percentage score based on 100 being perfect. In addition, each area of the animal is evaluated and assigned points based on how close that part comes to being ideal. For example, if an animal is given four (4) points out of the allotted five (5) on teats, that is 80%, and the owner knows that the teats on that animal are only 80% of the ideal. The Classifier inputs the score of each area of the body into an app on their phone. After they finish, the program calculates the final score, which the Classifier tells you right away. AGS sends you the score breakdown via email within a day or two, but I had my score breakdown much faster than that. The following pdf is the score breakdown.

Hershey hit the Elite List in December of 2022!! She is in the 95th percentile, which is the top 5% of her breed in the USA! Her momma, SG Land of Havilah KSG Ecstatic 3*M also hit the Elite List at the same time, so Hershey is a second generation Elite Doe!
Hershey earned her 4*M designation as a First Freshener in 2021.
She earned her *M in all three categories. She is an AR (Advanced Registry) doe and all her bucklings will have their *B designation as long as their sire is a *B or +B.
As a young yearling first freshener, Hershey finished her lactation at 236 DIM (Days in Milk), 1,838 pounds of milk, 108 pounds of Butterfat (5.9% average), and 67 pounds of Protein (3.6% average). That is a very promising first lactation, and I expect to see great things from this doe in the future!
Sire
Hershey’s sire is our buck, *B Land of Havilah MRC Midas. He excels in width, strength, and substance of bone. He has a gorgeous head and breed character. Both his front and rear legs are nicely balanced. Front legs are straight from front and side profile, and his rear legs are nicely angled. Midas has smooth blending from his neck into his withers. He has had a huge impact on our herd and has sired the best buck that I’ve ever bred, *B Land of Havilah ML Galaxy, who threw several daughters in 2021, including Hershey’s daughter, Land of Havilah GOI Harmony. Galaxy corrected ear control, shape, and length in Harmony, which is a great improvement over her dam. He also added even more width and strength to Harmony.
Dam
Hershey’s dam is our exceptional doe, SG Land of Havilah KSG Ecstatic 3*M. She is a powerhouse of a doe and has proven herself as an exceptional milker. She milked through on her 2020 lactation and we dried her in February 2022. She finished that lactation at 696 DIM (Days in Milk), 5,967 pounds of milk, 347 pounds of Butterfat (5.8% average), and 244 pounds of Protein (4.1% average). Ecstatic is in the top 92% of the Nubian breed, and I’m hoping that she will increase to 95% so that she will hit the Elite rank (top 5% of the breed). Hershey is following in her momma’s footsteps, and I’m excited to see what her second freshening has in store!
