color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';\">Left to right:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';\">Skywalker, my half Arabian, half Quarter Horse gelding.\u00a0 26 years old.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';\">DS Morning Star &#8220;Stormie&#8221;, Purebred Arabian mare, 19 years old.\u00a0\u00a0We lost Stormie suddenly\u00a0to a twisted gut on February 2nd, 2011.\u00a0 She was fine on Tuesday morning and afternoon.\u00a0 I saw her laying down in the snow and knew she needed me.\u00a0 I spent from 5:30 pm Tuesday till Wednesday till 4:30 pm\u00a0when we put her down, trying to help her.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude41\u00a0 Sadly, when they twist their gut there are 2 options: surgery or put them down.\u00a0 She was not going to survive surgery in the condition she was in, so we put our girl down to save her 4 hours of pain &#8211; that is how long the vet said he believed she had left.\u00a0\u00a0We buried her in our pet cemetery.\u00a0 RIP Stormie,\u00a0we will miss your sweet ways and\u00a0friendly nicker\u00a0of greeting each day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">This is our cat, Cassie.\u00a0 I found her as a kitten wandering sick on our road, and (softie that I am) I brought her home and nursed her back to health. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"fw-text\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">Cassie is a &#8220;manx&#8221; &#8211; very short tail with longer back legs.\u00a0 Her tail is about 2-3 inches long, very cute!!\u00a0 Isn&#8217;t she pretty!!!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"fw-text\"><span style=\"font-size: large; is a color phase of the Red Fox.<\/span><\/span>Sparky is a beauty!\u00a0 We bought her from a place in 1998 as a pet, and friend to &#8220;Foxy Lady&#8221;, my Silver Fox.\u00a0 We raised Sparky and her sister Honey, for a man, Doug Kneller, who owned a business called &#8220;The Woodland Zoo&#8221;.\u00a0 He used to sell the babies as pets.\u00a0 He had foxes (artic and red types), raccoons, coyotes, bear, skunk (many different color phases), etc.\u00a0 His last year in business was 1998.\u00a0 Anyway, my &#8220;job&#8221; was to handle the babies and get them accustomed to people, so that they were friendly and could be sold.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sparky was a NASTY little creature when we brought her home!\u00a0 Thus the name &#8220;Sparky&#8221;.\u00a0 She bit me and was very cross &#8211; hehehe, yes pun cause she&#8217;s a cross fox!\u00a0 But I digress!\u00a0 Doug said I should be careful with the kits (babies) around my full grown vixen (girl fox), Lady, cause she would kill them.\u00a0 However, the EXACT OPPOSITE occurred!\u00a0 Lady was 5 years old at the time and really wanted babies!\u00a0 There was no way I was going to risk her safety and breed her (not to mention that I wouldn&#8217;t be able to part with the precious babies.)\u00a0 Later on that first day, I took the kits outside to go potty near the dog\/fox pen.\u00a0 They LOVED each other on sight!\u00a0 After watching them interact with the cage separating them, I took them in the pen (holding them of course).\u00a0 Lady &#8220;Dee&#8221; took them in like they were her own!\u00a0 Dee never had kits of her own, but her milk came in and she nursed them just the same!\u00a0 As soon as Sparky met her &#8220;Mommy Lady&#8221;, she was a different fox &#8211; sweet and gentle and friendly!\u00a0 She just missed her Mommy!\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.freewebs.com\/Images\/Smilies\/Round\/sad.gif\" alt=\"\" \/>\u00a0 I was so attached to her by the time I was to return her to Doug to be sold, that we bought her ourselves.\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.freewebs.com\/Images\/Smilies\/Round\/biggrin.gif\" alt=\"\" \/>\u00a0 It&#8217;s a weakness of mine.\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.freewebs.com\/Images\/Smilies\/Round\/unsure.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.freewebs.com\/Images\/Smilies\/Round\/blink.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.freewebs.com\/Images\/Smilies\/Round\/biggrin.gif\" alt=\"\" \/>\u00a0 Spark is 9 year old now (2007).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fw-text\"><span style=\"font-size: large; you&#8217;ll meet her next) into our 14&#215;70&#8242; mobile home.\u00a0 They would run back and forth playing with\/chasing each other through the entire length of it!\u00a0\u00a0 They had a ball, and provided hours of entertainment!<\/span><\/span><\/span>Before Paul and I had kids, Dee would sleep on the bed by my feet.\u00a0 She eventually started stretching out the length of the bed between Paul and I and would sleep there at night!\u00a0 It was so neat, having a friend like Dee!\u00a0 I trained her to sit, jump for treats, etc.\u00a0 Took her for rides in the car, she used to trace designs on the window with her wet nose.\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.freewebs.com\/Images\/Smilies\/Round\/laugh.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">My girl died in Fall of 2007 at 14 1\/2 years old.\u00a0 She was sick in the pic above, I can see it in her eyes &#8211; it was taken in September of 2007, one month before I had to put her down.\u00a0 Dee had cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fw-text\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"fw-text\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">She had a long wonderful\u00a0 life, and I&#8217;ll miss her forever.\u00a0 But one day, I&#8217;ll see her again in heaven with my friend and Lord, Jesus.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll finally pick her up again, and she&#8217;ll cling to me in her &#8220;foxy hug&#8221;, and give me one of her fox greetings (a gentle nip on the nose &#8211; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">I noticed Lady was losing weight on August 8th, 2007.\u00a0 Shortly after that, I discovered a mass between her hind legs.\u00a0 I would find a new mass every week, and then every day toward the end.\u00a0 By October 9th, 2007, she was\u00a0 tired of this life and longed for the next.\u00a0 She stopped drinking, and waited.\u00a0 I helped my friend as much as I could, eyedroppers of water and supplements, but she wanted to leave and I wanted her to be free of the pain.\u00a0 I\u00a0 took her into the Addison Vet Clinic to her vet\/friend, Andy Kelly, who had been her vet since she was 4 weeks old.\u00a0\u00a0 There, I stood petting her, telling her how very sorry I was that we were to end this way, and crying &#8230; I watched her leave me, peacefully and quietly slip into the next life with my Lord, where I hope I will see her again one day.\u00a0 I took her precious body home, and at Paul&#8217;s suggestion, we buried our friend on the spot where our mobile home had been &#8211; beneath where the bedroom\u00a0was located, where she loved to sleep between us on our bed at night.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fw-text\">\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"fw-title\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype';\"><span style=\"color: #00471c; font-size: xx-large;\">RIP &#8211; Sparky and Shali<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"fw-text\">\n<p><b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large;\">UPDATE:\u00a0 January 30th, 2010.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">It is with a heavy heart that I write this.\u00a0 Today Paul and I took Sparky and Shali to the vet on their last car ride.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude41\u00a0 Their pain was unbearable for them, even though I gave them both a double dose of their pain medication the vet gave them. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">Sparky, our cross fox, (12 years old) had a very aggressive form of cancer.\u00a0 She had HUGE masses on her chest and stomach.\u00a0 During her last 2 days, she was unable to lie down to sleep.\u00a0 I held her to allow her to sleep &#8211; which kept the pressure off her tummy.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude41 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">Shali, our black lab, (13 years old) had terrible arthritis pain, making it very difficult for her to walk.\u00a0 The last few days have been extremely cold, and her pain has been immense.\u00a0 She was also dealing with cancer, but it was not aggressive like Sparky&#8217;s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">We miss our girls terribly.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t fathom not being able to hold Sparky again in this life here on Earth&#8230;\u00a0 Our house feels empty without them in it.\u00a0 I&#8217;m convinced that if I&#8217;d caught sparky&#8217;s cancer sooner, when she was still eating well, I could&#8217;ve saved her using the methods I&#8217;ve described below.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: xx-large; color: #000000;\">Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Palatino Linotype'; font-size: large; color: #000000;\">You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
