Essential oils are great for everyday use, when used correctly. You can experience the many benefits of essential oils by using them to support overall health.
AROMATIC
• Essential oils, when diffused or inhaled, can be very stimulating, calming, or soothing. Diffusing essential oils can also cleanse and purify the air.
TOPICAL
• Essential oils can be safely applied for massage or topical therapy.
• Chemical structure enables them to pass through skin [probably intercellular pathways] for an immediate systemic response: THIRTY SECONDS to get into your bloodstream—THIRTY MINUTES to get through your entire body. [I’m not sure where they found the “30 seconds to get into your bloodstream”, but I have found a study that says that constituents of the oil are detectable in the blood within 5 minutes of the massage finishing (Lavender). I like to double check these things and I have not been able to find what they are saying here yet. There isn’t a published study yet, but we expect that the essential oils take about the same amount of time for anything transdermal/ lipophilic like DMSO or patches.]
INTERNAL
• Certain essential oils have a rich culinary history and can be used as dietary supplements for targeted wellness.
In this class, I’m going to teach you what the original Essential Oil Academy class teaches AND what I was taught about administering the oils, i.e. aromatically, topically, and internally. The training I completed to receive my Aromatherapy certification AND the other courses that I took to further my education also included Aromatic Medicine, which is using the oils internally in a therapeutic way – in other words, working with acute situations as well as culinary types uses. The courses also covered anatomy and physiology, so I understand how the body systems work and how we support them in a natural way by using herbs for nutrition and essential oils for an added boost. My intention is to keep things basic in this course and get into more detail in future courses.
